(September 21, 2016) Ottawa – Today, September 21st marks the 25th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia. Armenians in Canada and across the globe will celebrate this important milestone for a new republic and an ancient nation.
Over the past quarter century, Armenia has continued to develop its democratic institutions, its social structures, its economy and its foreign relations, as evidenced by membership in over 40 international organizations.
From its first days of independence Armenia has received the unwavering support of Canada and Canadians, through high-level exchanges, business investment, bilateral exchanges, and person-to-person connections.
On Monday, September 19 2016, the Armenian National Committee of Canada (ANCC) hosted a Reception on Parliament Hill, where over 50 Ministers, Members of Parliament, Senators and staff were gathered to celebrate this milestone.
During the event, following opening remarks delivered by the ANCC, MP Harold Albrecht (Former Chair of the Canada-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group), MP Arnold Chan (Current Chair of the Canada-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group), MP Alexandre Boulerice (Vice Chair of the Canada-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group) and His Excellency Armen Yeganian, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in Canada offered their congratulatory messages.
A special speech was delivered in both French and English by Syrian-Armenian student, Karen Seraydarian, who settled in Canada two years ago and is now a senior student at Montreal’s Sourp Hagop Armenian School. After speaking about her family’s experience fleeing the Syrian Civil War, she expressed her sincere gratitude to the Government of Canada for giving her family and thousands of other families the opportunity to settle in Canada.

Le Parlement canadien marque le 25e anniversaire de l’indépendance d’Arménie

Ottawa – Le 21 septembre 2016, marque le 25e anniversaire de l’indépendance de la République d’Arménie. Les Arméniens du Canada et du monde entier fêteront collectivement ce jalon historique pour une jeune république mais une nation millénaire.
Dès les premiers jours, le Canada et les Canadiens ont soutenu la jeune république à travers des échanges de haut niveau, des investissements dans le milieu des affaires, des échanges bilatéraux et des contacts sur le terrain.
Depuis un quart de siècle, l’Arménie développe sans cesse ses institutions démocratiques, sociales économiques ainsi ses relations étrangères en adhérant à plus de 40 organisations internationales.
Le 19 septembre dernier, le Comité national arménien du Canada (CNAC) a marqué le coup en organisant une réception où une cinquantaine d’élus et adjoint(e)s sont venus célébrer ce moment historique. Faisant suite au mot de bienvenue du CNAC, ancien et actuel présidents du Groupe parlementaire d’amitié Canada-Arménie, respectivement les députés Harold Albrecht, Arnold Chan, ainsi que son vice-président, Alexandre Boulerice ont transmis les messages de félicitations de leur partis respectifs. Son Excellence Armen Yeganian, ambassadeur de la république arménienne a remercié les Canadiens pour l’excellente relation entretenue entre les deux pays.
Un mot de remerciement tout particulier a été transmis en Anglais et Français par une jeune étudiante de l’École arménienne Sourp Hagop, Karen Seraydarian, qui depuis deux ans est au Canada depuis la Syrie. Elle a parlé de l’expérience de sa famille et a remercié le gouvernement du Canada pour l’ouverture dont elle a fait preuve. Un moment qui a particulièrement touché tous les participants.

Գանատայի խորհրդարանին մէջ մեծ շուքով նշուեցաւ Հայաստանի անկախութեան 25-ամեակը
(ՀՈՐԻԶՈՆ ՇԱԲԱԹԱԹԵՐԹ) Գանատայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի կազմակերպութեամբ, Սեպտեմբեր 19-ի երեկոյեան, Գանատայի խորհրդարանին մէջ նշուեցաւ Հայաստանի անկախութեան 25-ամեակը, որուն ներկայ գտնուեցան խորհրդարանի աւելի քան 30 անդամներ, Գանատայի Ժառանգութեան նախարար Մելանի Ժոլի եւ ՀՀ դեսպան Արմէն Եգանեան։
Օրուան հանդիսավար Գանատայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբին Օթթաուայի գրասենեակի գործավար Սեւակ Պելեան հանդիսութեան բացումը կատարեց, նշելով, որ հայ ժողովուրդին համար պատմական այս յոբելեանը կը նշուի Հայաստանի բարեկամ պետութիւն Գանատայի խորհրդարանին մէջ։ Ֆրանսերէն ուղերձով հանդէս եկաւ Հայ Դատի Շրջանային յանձնախումբի անդամ Աբօ Նիզիպլեան։
Յաջորդաբար իրենց խօսքերը փոխանցեցին Գանատա-Հայաստան խորհրդարանական բարեկամութեան խմբակցութեան նախկին նախագահ տոքթ. Հարըլտ Ալպրէխթ, նորընտիր նախագահ Արնոլտ Չան եւ փոխ նախագահ Ալեքսանտր Պուլրիս, որոնք վերահաստատեցին Գանատայի զօրակցութիւնը Հայաստանին եւ կոչ ուղղեցին խորհրդարանի իրենց գործընկերներուն համալրելու Գանատա-Հայաստան խորհրդարանական բարեկամութեան խմբակցութեան շարքերը։
Գանատայի մօտ Հայաստանի արտակարգ եւ լիազօր դեսպան Արմէն Եգանեան ելոյթ ունենալով նշեց, որ Սեպտեմբեր 21-ը կը խորհրդանշէ Հայ ժողովուրդի վերածնունդը, Ցեղասպանութեան արհաւիրքէն ետք յառնումը։ Ան դրուատեց Գանատայի արդարամիտ կեցուածքը, յատկապէս Հայոց Ցեղասպանութեան ճանաչման գծով եւ գնահատեց Օթթաուայի հաւասարակշռուած քաղաքական մօտեցումը Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի հակամարտութեան առնչութեամբ։ Ան իր խօսքը եզրափակեց, յայտնելով, որ Սեպտեմբեր 21-ը հայութեան հաւատքի ու գոյատեւման խորհրդանիշն է։
Հանդիսութեան ընթացքին խօսք առաւ Մոնթրէալի Ազգային Սուրբ Յակոբ վարժարանի 11-րդ դասարանի սուրիահայ աշակերտ Քարէն Սէրայտարեան։ Ան շնորհակալութիւն յայտնեց Գանատայի կառավարութեան, որ իր ընտանիքին առիթ ընծայեց, իբրեւ ներգաղթող հանգրուանելու Գանատայի մէջ։ Ան յայտնեց, որ ինք կը կրէ բազմահարիւր հայ որբերու փրկարար դանիացի Քարէն Եփփէի անունը։ Անդրադառնալով Ցեղասպանութեան ընթացքին իր պապենական գերդաստանի կրած տառապանքներուն ու կորուստներուն մասին, ան յայտնեց, թէ Տիգրանակերտէն Հասաքէ-Հալէպ իր գերդաստանի գաղթի ոդիսականէն 100 տարի ետք, այսօր իր ընտանիքը շնորհիւ Գանատայի պետութեան մարդասիրական օգնութեան՝ հաստատուած է Գանատա։
