Community gatherings in Glendale and Pasadena raise funds for ANCA Telethon 2014
LOS ANGELES—With the 2014 ANCA Telethon just days away, volunteers and supporters gathered at the home of Hovig and Aida Dimejian for the latest in a diverse series of receptions celebrating Armenian American civic participation.
“Aida and Hovig have been with the ANCA every step of the way — as leaders, as organizers, as go-to team members — always ready to help ensure the success of any project we take on, and this evening’s reception is no exception,” said ANCA Chairman Ken Hachikian, who was on hand for the reception. “Their commitment – and the efforts of all the ANCA Telethon event hosts – is a testament to the broad reach and power of the ANCA grassroots movement in advancing our collective cause.”
ANCA leaders at the local, regional and national level were on hand for the event, along with leaders of various Armenian organizations and community members from across southern California.

‘Monte Carlo Night’ Benefit for ANCA Telethon 2014
Community members from all over Southern California tried their luck at the gaming tables at Vertigo Club in Glendale during a special benefit reception hosted by Lights on LA in support of ANCA Telethon 2014.
“A Night in Monte Carlo” boasted a packed house of ANCA supporters and activists gearing up for the June 1st six hour telethon, to be broadcast coast to coast from 3 pm to 9 pm PDT / 6 pm to 12 midnight EDT, spotlighting the expanded participation of the of Armenian American community in all aspects of civic life.
“A special thank you to ‘Lights on LA’ for offering this unique fundraising opportunity in support of ANCA Telethon 2014,” said Telethon 2014 Chairman Steve Artinian. “It was a magical evening of friendly competition and gamesmanship — all benefiting a Cause we hold dear.”
The ANCA Endowment Fund supports a broad range of educational, youth, and civic programs that give voice to the views and values of the Armenian American community, strengthening our presence in the American civic arena, and empowering pro-Armenian stakeholders with the information and resources they need to take on the powerful forces aligned against the Armenian nation.
The first three ANCA Endowment Fund telethons, held in 2006, 2009 and 2012, raised over $6.5 million for Armenian American educational, youth, and civic programs. Each program touched a common emotional chord, speaking directly to the devotion to the Armenian Cause in the hearts of Armenians from across the U.S., regardless of organizational or political affiliations.
ANCA PN and All-ASA Raise Funds for ANCA Telethon at Leon Café and Lounge
On Thursday, May 15, the ANCA Professional Network and All-ASA hosted a social evening under the stars with over fifty Armenian students and professionals, to support the 2014 ANCA Telethon at Leon Café and Lounge in Glendale.
The event was sponsored by the generous owners of Leon Café and Lounge, Armik and Hilda Boghossian.
“It is truly gratifying to see an energetic group of young people here, ready to raise funds and show support for the Armenian Cause and the work of the ANCA in pressing issues that face us today as Armenians,” said Armik Boghossian.

The gathering drew together members of the ANCA Professional Network, All- ASA, and activists from the community who had the opportunity to network, mingle, and enjoy a beautiful evening of good conversations, interesting discussions, and wonderful food and drinks. Many attendees took pictures with #goANCA orange placards to post on social media in order to raise awareness about our Cause.
Toward the end of the evening, Talar Malakian, ANCA Telethon Coordinator, outlined the various victories of the ANCA on a local, regional, and national level in the last two years. She remarked, “It is with your support that the Armenian Cause moves forward. The Armenian Cause depends on you as young people, who are on college campuses fighting the good fight. It depends on the parents here who are teaching their kids Armenian. It depends on the emails and action alerts you send to our elected officials.”

The ANCA Telethon 2014 is a nationwide fundraising campaign designed to empower Armenian Americans, protect Armenia and promote the Armenian Cause throughout the United States. The gatherings throughout Southern California are part of a coordinated and major grassroots effort, featuring community events and a social networking campaign that will lead up to June 1, 2014, when the 6-hour telethon will be aired in major markets across the United States from 3:00pm to 9:00pm PDT (6:00pm to 12 midnight EDT). The ANCA Telethon 2014 will be on air in New York City, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, among other major American cities. The complete channel line-up is available here.
In support of the ANCA Telethon 2014, countless organizations, volunteers, churches, community leaders, performing artists, politicians will be coming together to highlight the successes of the ANCA in advancing the Armenian Cause in Washington, DC and across the United States. The telethon will feature several documentaries focused on the work of the organization and the volunteers whose grassroots efforts have made the ANCA a strong and universally respected voice for the Armenian Cause.

ՈՒԱՇԻՆԿԹԸՆ.- Միացեալ Նահանգներու տարածքին կայացող Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի թելեթոնին ի նպաստ հաւաքներուն ծիրէն մէջ, Հիւսիսային Եւ Կեդրոնական Քալիֆորնիաներու հայ համայնքները յաջորդաբար Սան Ֆրանսիսքոյի եւ Ֆրեզնոյի մէջ հաւաքներ կազմակերպած են:
2014ի Հայ Դատի թելեթոնի յանձնախումբի ատենապետ Սթիւ Արթինեան, որ ներկայ եղած է սոյն հաւաքներուն, յոյժ քաջալերական կը գտնէ բոլոր համայնքներուն ցուցաբերած խանդավառութիւնը՝ աւելցնելով, թէ այս տարուան թելեթոնը լուսարձակի տակ պիտի առնէ Հայաստանի, Արցախի, Ջաւախքի եւ Սփիւռքի հայութեան ի նպաստ տարուող զանազան աշխատանքներ:
Սան Ֆրանսիսքոյի հաւաքը առատաձեռնօրէն հիւրընկալուած էր Աբրահամ եւ Օտէթ Փանոսեաններուն կողմէ:
«Ուրախ ենք հիւրընկալելու մեր սիրտին շատ մօտիկ նպատակի մը զօրակցող այս ձեռնարկը: Քաջալերական կը գտնենք այն իրողութիւնը, որ այսքա՛ն մեծ թիւով հայեր նուիրուածութիւն կը ցուցաբերեն իրենց ազգային ինքնութեան ու հպարտ են իրենց պատմութեամբ եւ ժառանգութեամբ, միաժամանակ՝ պատրաստակամութիւն ցուցաբերելով նեցուկ կանգնելու մեր հայրենիքի հզօրացման», յայտարարած են Փանոսեանները:
Ձեռնարկին ներկայ էր նաեւ Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի ատենապետ Քեն Խաչիկեան, Ծովածոցի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի անցեալի եւ ներկայ ատենապետներ Արմէն Կարապետեան ու Մեթ Սէնէքերիմեան, ինչպէս նաեւ Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբէն՝ Թերեզա Երիմեան:
Ներկաները ունկնդրած են նաեւ 1930ական թուականներէն ՀԵԴի անդամակցութեամբ Հայ Դատին նեցուկ կանգնած տեղացիներ Ճորճ եւ Մերի Աթաշքարեաններու վկայութիւնները:
Ինչպէս հաղորդած էինք, Արթինեան եւ Երիմեան արդէն իսկ այցելած էին շրջանի Գռուզեան-Զաքարեան-Վասպուրական Ազգային վարժարանը, քաջալերելու համար աշակերտները, որ ստանձնեն ապագայի հայ դեսպանները ըլլալու պարտականութիւնը:
Միւս կողմէ, Ֆրեզնոյի մէջ Հայ Դատին ի նպաստ կայացած ձեռնարկը հիւրընկալած են Կարօ եւ Ալիս Կիւրէղեանները: Արթինեանի կողքին, ձեռնարկին ներկայ եղած է նաեւ դոկտ. Վիգէն Յովսէփեան եւ Հայ Դատի տեղական գործիչներէն Սեւակ Թադէոսեան, քաջալերելու համար համայնքը, որ ամբողջական աջակցութիւն ցուցաբերէ Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի դրամահաւաքին:
«Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբը յատուկ տեղ ունի մեր ընտանիքին մէջ եւ, անշուշտ, երբ առիթը ընծայուեցաւ, ուրախութեամբ ստանձնեցինք Կեդրոնական Քալիֆորնիոյ հայութիւնը ի մի բերելու պարտականութիւնը, նեցուկ կանգնելու համար Հայ Դատին: Հոյակապ ձեռնարկ մըն էր՝ յոյժ կարեւոր նպատակի մը համար», ըսած են Կիւրէղեանները:
«Մեր աւելի քան հարիւրամեայ գաղութը յատուկ տեղ կը գրաւէ Սփիւռքի պատմութեան մէջ, եւ մեր պարտականութիւնն է մղիչ ուժ մը ըլլալ Հայ Դատի պաշտպանութեան ջանքերուն մէջ», աւելցուցած է Կեդրոնական Քալիֆորնիոյ Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի գործիչներէն Արթուր Համբար:
