MONTEBELLO—The nationwide wave of enthusiasm for ANCA Telethon 2014 reached the San Gabriel Valley last week, as community stalwarts Mr. & Mrs. Murad & Armine Minasian opened their home for an evening reception celebrating Armenian American power and progress and the community’s continued expansion of its civic activism.
The June 1st ANCA Telethon will be streamed live online at ancatelethon.org and broadcast coast to coast from from 3 to 9 p.m. PST (6 p.m. to midnight EST) on the following stations.
“For our family the Armenian Cause has always been at the core of our values, and the ANCA is the leader in championing the cause,” explained Murad Minasian. “We’ve all seen the great work of this organization and are thankful for what they’ve accomplished. We’re glad we had the opportunity to help the ANCA and our common cause – after all, it is ‘Mer Hayrenik’.”
ANCA Telethon Committee Chairman Steve Artinian was joined by ANCA National Board Member Steve Dadaian, Esq., ANCA Western Region Advisory Board Member Levon Kirakosian, Esq., Telethon Committee Member Vanna Kitsinian, Esq. and former Armenian Foreign Minister Raffi Hovannisian in offering remarks during the evening.

Las Vegas Community Unites to Support ANCA Telethon
LAS VEGAS—The unity promoted by the Armenian National Committee of America was prominently on display on the evening of May 16 at the Saint Garabed Cultural Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. On that night, friends and supporters of the ANCA and its efforts to advance the Armenian Cause came together, in a spirited way, to raise funds for the 2014 ANCA Telethon, slated to be aired nationwide on June 1, 2014.
Benefactor Alex Karabajakian, whose faith in the ANCA has been longstanding, hosted the Las Vegas event. The gathering drew together members of various community organizations, including the ARF “Ishkhan” Gomideh, Saint Garabed Church Parish Council and Ladies Auxiliary, Armenian Relief Society, Homenetmen, among other institutions that have made the Las Vegas Armenian American community among the fastest growing in the nation.
In his opening remarks welcoming attendees to the ANCA gathering, Saint Garabed Church Parish Council representative Adroushan Armenian cited the organization’s substantial work for the Armenian Cause in urging donations to support the 2014 ANCA Telethon.
The guest speaker for the evening was ANCA National Board member Raffi Hamparian. Hamparian outlined the specific steps the ANCA has taken to advance the Armenian Cause, locally, regionally and nationally. “The ANCA welcomes the strong support from our grassroots supporters – men and women, young and old, rich and not so rich – who believe in our message and, more importantly, who believe in our work and our proven track-record of activism. So tonight, on behalf of the ANCA, I have two words to share with the Las Vegas Armenian Americans community – thank you,” Hamparian commented at the event.
Longtime AYF leader Carnie Armenian also spoke at the ANCA gathering. She remarked that, “We are all here because something within us sparked our involvement in the Armenian community, and the bridges we have built to constantly unite ourselves with Armenia is what maintains our everlasting faith to our nation while keeping our Diasporan communities alive. We are Armenian, and that is the greatest gift. We are the people of our nation and the future of this great nation is up to us to decide.”
Members of the Saint Garabed Church Ladies Auxiliary generously served traditional Armenian food to those attending the ANCA fundraising event. Following the brief remarks about the ANCA at the event, attendees enjoyed each other’s camaraderie and took photos with ANCA placards with the words “#goANCA” printed on them to later post on social media, raising awareness about our cause.

Հաւաքոյթին ներկայ եղած է Հայ Դատի թելեթոնի կազմակերպիչ յանձնախումբի ատենապետ Սթիւ Արթինեան, Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի վարչութեան անդամ՝ իրաւաբան Սթիւ Տէտէյեան, Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի վարչութեան խորհրդատուական մարմինի անդամ իրաւաբան Լեւոն Կիրակոսեան, թելեթոնի յանձնախումբի անդամ իրաւաբան Վանա Կիտցինեան եւ Հայաստանի արտաքին գործոց նախկին նախարար Ռաֆֆի Յովհաննէսեան, որ կատարեց ձեռնարկին բացումը:
«Յիշատակելի առիթ մըն էր, որ իրականացաւ Մոնթեպելլոյի հայութեան ցուցաբերած քաջալերանքով: Կ՛ուզեմ շնորհակալութիւն յայտնել հիւրընկալ ամոլին, որ առատաձեռնօրէն հիւրընկալեց այս հաւաքը: Այս առիթով կ՛ուզեմ նաեւ շնորհակալութիւն յայտնել Հայ Դատին համար կամաւոր աշխատանք տանողներուն», յայտնած է Կիրակոսեան, յատուկ շնորհակալութիւն յայտնելով նաեւ ուտի երաժշտութեամբ ձեռնարկը ճոխացուցած Անդրանիկ Գիզիրեանին:

Լաս Վեկասի Հայութիւնը Ի Մի Կու Գայ՝ Ի Նպաստ Հայ Դատի Թելեթոնին
ԼԱՍ ՎԵԿԱՍ.- Մայիս 16ի երեկոյեան, Լաս Վեկասի Ս. Կարապետ մշակութային կեդրոնը ժամադրավայրը եղաւ Հայ Դատի համակիրներուն, որոնք եկած էին գործնականապէս նեցուկ կանգնելու 2014ի Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի թելեթոնին:
Ձեռնարկի հիւրընկալութիւնը ստանձնած էր բարերար Ալեքս Քարապաճաքեան՝ ի մի բերելով շրջանին մէջ վերջերս զգալի աճ արձանագրած հայութիւնը, ներառեալ՝ ՀՅԴ «Իշխան» կոմիտէութիւնը, Ս. Կարապետ եկեղեցւոյ յարակից մարմինները, ՀՕՄը եւ ՀՄԸՄը:
Ձեռնարկին բացումը կատարեց եկեղեցւոյ հոգաբարձութեան ատենապետ Ատրուշան Արմէնեան՝ լուսարձակի տակ առնելով Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի գործունէութիւնը եւ անոր կազմակերպած թելեթոնին աջակցելու կոչ ընելով բոլորին:
Օրուան հիւր բանախօսն էր Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի վարչութեան անդամ Ռաֆֆի Համբարեանը, որ մանրամասնօրէն ներկայացուց Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբին գործունէութիւնը՝ դաշնակցային, նահանգային եւ տեղական մակարդակներու վրայ, միաժամանակ շեշտելով կամաւոր գործիչներուն տարած աշխատանքին կենսական կարեւորութիւնը: Ան նաեւ շնորհակալութիւն յայտնեց համայնքին ցուցաբերած օժանդակութիւններուն համար:
Ելոյթ ունեցաւ նաեւ ՀԵԴի երկարամեայ ղեկավարներէն Գառնի Արմէնեան, Սփիւռքի հզօրութիւնը կապելով Հայաստանի եւ Արցախի հզօրութեան, միաժամանակ՝ շեշտելով, թէ իւրաքանչիւրս պարտականութիւն ունի Հայ Դատի պայքարին մէջ:
