Anti-armenische Politik der Türkei wird in Schulbüchern fortgesetzt

Am 21. und 22. Mai fand die Konferenz „“Building Bridges: Promoting Dialogue to Prevent Radicalization and Violent Extremism” im Hauptsitz der OSZE – Organisation für Sicherheit und Zusammenarbeit in Europa in Wien statt. Sowohl der OSZE Generalsekräter Lamberto Zannier, als auch weitere Repräsentanten der Organisation waren anwesend. Mitglieds- und nicht-Mitgliedsstaaten der OSZE wurden durch Botschafter, verschiedenste Organisationen und NRO’s repräsentiert. Vor den Diskussionen hielten verschiedene Experten unterschiedlichster Bereiche Vorträge über die Rolle der Medien, Bildung, Religion und der Jugend.
Garo Chadoian, der Vertreter des Österreichisch Armenischen Komitee für Gerechtigkeit und Demokratie betonte, dass der Extremismus nicht nur in der Religion zu suchen sei, sondern auch im Nationalismus, welcher oft für Terror und verschiedene Genozide verantwortlich sei. In seiner Rede hob er außerdem hervor, dass die Leugnung des armenischen Genozids und die anti-armenische Politik noch immer in den Schulbüchern des OSZE Mitgliedsstaates Türkei zu finden seien, welche für Radikalisierungen und Gewalttaten gegenüber der armenischen und anderen Minderheiten verantwortlich sei. Chadoian sagte weiters, dass die Vernichtung der armenischen Bevölkerung im historischen Westarmenien, bzw. der heutigen Türkei das historische Hauptproblem darstelle, dessen Auswirkung bis heute sichtbar sei.

Turkey’s anti-Armenianism continues in educational system

On 21st and 22nd of May the conference “Building Bridges: Promoting Dialogue to Prevent Radicalization and Violent Extremism” took place in the headquarters of the OSCE – The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe in Vienna. The OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier and other high representatives of the organization were present. Member and non-member countries of the OSCE were represented by their embassies, several organizations and NGO’s. Before discussions took place, experts from different fields spoke about the role of the media, education, religion and the youth.
Garo Chadoian, the representative of the Austrian Armenian Committee for Justice and Democracy, stressed the importance not only to fight religious extremism, but also nationalism, which was often the reason for terror and various genocides. In his speech, he also emphasized, that the denial of the Armenian Genocide and the anti-Armenianism is still a part of the education system in the OSCE member country Turkey, which results in radicalization and violent extremism against Armenians and other minorities. Chadoian added that the annihilation of the Armenian people in historical Western Armenia, or today’s eastern Turkey is the root problem which impact we can still see today.
