SYDNEY: The Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC Australia) has welcomed Arin Markarian to its National Board.

Markarian, who is currently undertaking an International Relations Major at Macquarie University, is a well-respected young Armenian with a keen interest and understanding of Australian politics and foreign affairs.

As well as performing key duties as a Board member, ANC Australia will also look to Markarian to further expand their grassroots activities within the Sydney Metropolitan area, particularly in the Inner-West.

“It is a huge honour for me to be a part of such a prominent and successful grassroots organisation that has always looked after the interests of Armenian-Australians,” Markarian said.

“During the year in which we remember the 1.5 million lives lost during the Armenian Genocide, it is very important to help educate Australians about the historical facts and at the same time show my respect to our ancestors. Having an active role with ANC Australia will allow me to do this,” added Markarian.

ANC Australia Honorary Chairman, Greg Soghomonian remarked: “Arin is a valuable appointment to the Armenian National Committee of Australia’s Board and we look forward to the valuable contributions which he will bring.”
