Brussels, October 9, 2014. – Today, the EU – Armenia Friendship Group in the European Parliament President, Member of the European Parliament, Dr. Eleni Theocharous visited Armenia, accompanied by her aide, Dr. Ioannis Charalampidis, Professor Bernard Coulie of the Catholic University of Leuven, and European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy President, Mr. Kaspar Karampetian.
In Yerevan, the delegation visited the Armenian Genocide memorial of Tzitzernagapert, and held meetings with the President of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Serzh Sargsyan, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Galust Sahakyan, and Standing Committee on Foreign Relations chairman, Mr. Artak Zakaryan.
MEP Theocharous was honored by a medal of gratitude from the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
The delegation discussed issues of Armenia – EU relations in light of the latest developments in the region, the crisis in the Middle East and the persecution against the local minorities especially in Syria, and Iraq. Nagorno – Karabakh’s conflict settlement, and Turkish – Azerbaijani aggression against Armenians was also a subject of discussion.
It should be noted, that the delegation will be heading to Nagorno – Karabakh Artsakh on Saturday, and will be holding talks with the leadership of the country, as to how pursue best the recognition of Artsakh in Europe, boost the tourism of the country and other matters. A memorandum will be signed between Artsakh State University and the Catholic University of Leuven.
“Such high level meetings with the leadership of Armenia and Artsakh are always important for us. Armenia has honest friends in Europe who strengthen Armenia’s positions in the Union and we are looking for more enhanced cooperation in the coming years, in the fields of academia and education”, said Kaspar Karampetian, President of the European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy. Karampetian praised the National Assembly of Armenia for honoring MEP Eleni Theocharous, a long time ally of Armenia and Artsakh.
Next week two different events will take place in the European Parliament. Anna Astvatsaturian Turcotte’s book “Nowhere, A Story Of Exile” will be presented, giving voice to the hundreds of thousands of Armenians persecuted in Azerbaijan, and most notably, the celebration of the 23 years of Nagorno – Karabakh’s independence. Later in the month of October, the movie “Tevanik” of Jivan Avetisyan will be screened in Europe.

MEP Dr. Theocharous in ARF – Dashnaktsutyun offices, in Yerevan
Member of the European Parliament (EPP, Cyprus), Chair of the EU – Armenia Friendship Group in the European Parliament, Dr. Eleni Theocharous today, October 10, 2014, visited the headquarters of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation – Dashnkatsutyun (Armenian Socialist Party) at Kristapor Mikaelian center and held a meeting with Mr. Hrand Margaryan, Chairman of the ARF-D Bureau.
Dr. Theocharous was accompanied by her aide, Dr. Ioannis Charalampidis, and European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy President, Mr. Kaspar Karampetian.
MEP Theocharous and H. Margaryan discussed the Nagorno Karabakh – Artsakh issue, Armenia and other regional issues. Theocharous praised the party and noted her long acquaintance with the ARF – Dashnaktsutyun, since she has been cooperating with the party’s branch in Cyprus. Mr. Margaryan handed to Eleni Theocharous ARF-D publications and albums, as a souvenir.
Later, they visited the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun History Museum.

Պրիւքսել, 9 հոկտեմբեր, 2014.- Այսօր, Եւրոխորհրդարանին մէջ Եւրոպական Միութիւն – Հայաստան բարեկամութեան խումբի նախագահ՝ եւրոերեսփոխան դոկտոր Էլէնի Թէոխարուս այցելեց Հայաստան: Անոր կ’ընկերակցէին իր խորհրդատուն, դոկտոր Իոաննիս Խարալամպիտիս, Պելճիքայի Լէօվենի կաթողիկէ համալսարանի դասախօս Պերնար Քուլի, եւ Եւրոպայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի նախագահ՝ Գասպար Կարապետեան:
Երեւանի մէջ պատուիրակութիւնը այցելեց Հայկական Ցեղասպանութեան յուշակոթող՝ Ծիծեռնակաբերդ, ապա հանդիպումներ ունեցաւ ՀՀ նախագահ Սերժ Սարգիսեանի, ՀՀ Ազգային ժողովի նախագահ՝ Գալուստ Սահակեանի, եւ ՀՀ ԱԺ Արտաքին յարաբերութեանց մշտական յանձնաժողովի նախագահ՝ Արտակ Զաքարեանի հետ:
Եւրոերեսփոխան Էլէնի Թէոխարուս ՀՀ Ազգային Ժողովին կողմէ արժանացաւ պատուոյ մետալի:
Պատուիրակութիւնը զրուցեց Եւրոպական միութիւն – Հայաստան վերջին զարգացումներուն մասին, Միջին արեւելքի ճգնաժամին ու յատկապէս Իրաքի եւ Սուրիոյ փոքրամասնութեանց հալածանքներուն շուրջ, ինչպէս նաեւ Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի Հանրապետութիւն – Արցախի հիմնահարցի լուծման, եւ հակահայ թուրքեւազերի յարձակողապաշտութեան մասին:
Նշենք, որ շաբաթ որ պատուիրակութիւնը պիտի ուղղուի Արցախ, ուր եւ հանդիպումներ պիտի ունենայ երկրին ղեկավարութեան հետ. պիտի արծարծուին Եւրոպայի մէջ Արցախի ճանաչման հարցը, զբօսաշրջիկութեան յաւելեալ խթանումը եւ այլ կարեւոր հարցեր: Համաձայնագիր մը նաեւ պիտի ստորագրուի Արցախի պետական հաամլսարանի եւ Լէօվենի կաթողիկէ համալսարանին միջեւ:
«Հայաստանի եւ Արցախի ղեկավարութեանց հետ նման բարձր մակարդակի հանդիպումները մեզի համար կարեւոր են: Հայստանը անկեղծ բարեկամներ ունի Եւրոպայի մէջ, որոնք Հայաստանի դիրքերը կ’ամրացնեն Եւրոմիութեան մէջ. յառաջիկայ տարիներուն ա’լ աւելի պիտի խթանուին ակադեմական եւ կրթութեան ոլորտներու մէջ համագործակցութիւնը», ըսաւ Գասպար Կարապետեան, Եւրոպայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի նախագահը: Կարապետեան նաեւ բարձր գնահատեց հայ ժողովուրդին եւ Արցախի երկար տարիներու բարեկամ Թէոխարուսին յանձնուած պատուոյ շքանշանը:
Գալ շաբաթ, երկու տարբեր ձեռնարկներ տեղի պիտի ունենան Եւրոխորհրդարանին մէջ: Պիտի ներկայացուի Աննա Աստուածատրեան Թարքոթի «Ոչ մէկ տեղ. աքսորի պատմութիւն» գիրքը, որ հալածուած հարիւր հազարաւոր ազրպէյճանահայութեան ձայն կու տայ, եւ յատկապէս՝ Արցախի 23-րդ անկախութեան առթիւ հիւրասիրութիւնը: Հոկտեմբերի մէջ նաեւ, Եւրոպայի զանազան երկիրներու մէջ պիտի ցուցադրուի Ջիւան Աւետիսեանի «Թեւանիկ» ֆիլմը:

Եւրոխորհրդարանի անդամ Էլէնի Թէոխարուսի այցը ՀՅԴ կեդրոնատեղի
Եւրոպական Միութեան խորհրդարանի անդամ (Եւրոպայի ժողովրդական կուսակցութիւն, Կիպրոս) Եւրոպական Միութիւն – Հայաստան Եւրոխորհրդարանէն ներս բարեկամութեան խումբի նախագահ դոկտ. Էլէնի Թէոխարուս այսօր, 10 հոկտեմբեր, 2014-ին այցելեց Հայ Յեղափոխական Դաշնակցութեան «Քրիստափոր Միքայէլեան» կեդրոնը, եւ հանդիպում մը ունեցաւ ՀՅԴ Բիւրոյի ներկայացուցիչ՝ Հրանդ Մարգարեանի հետ:

Մարգարեան զրուցեցին Լեռնային Ղարաբաղ – Արցախի հիմնահարցի, Հայաստանի եւ տարածաշրջանային զարգացումներուն շուրջ: Տիկին Թէոխարուս բարձր գնահատեց ՀՅԴ-ի գործունէութիւնը, եւ նշեց իր երկարամեայ ծանօթութիւնը կուսակցութեան հետ, Կիպրոսի կոմիտէութեան հետ գործակցութեան ճամբով: Հրանդ Մարգարեան Թէոխարուսին յանձնեց ՀՅԴ հրատարակութեամբ գիրք եւ պատմական ալպոմ:
