Meet Vardan Tadevosyan and the wonderful staff at Artsakh’s Lady Cox Rehabilitation Center, which provides high-quality, specialized medical care each year to approximately 1,000 local and regional adults and children with physical and mental disibilities – and has helped over 15,000 patients to date. Among those receiving treatment include patients – from Karabakh, Armenia, Russia, and Georgia – with spinal cord injuries, elderly stroke victims, and infants and children born with disabilities, such as autism, cerebral palsy, and spina bifida.

The ANCA has been calling on Congressional leaders to invest in Artsakh peace and Armenian prosperity by allocating, in part, $6 million for the Lady Cox Rehabilitation Center and de-mining efforts in Artsakh as part of the Fiscal Year 2019 Foreign Aid bill.
In June, thanks to your letters and Congressional outreach, the full U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee adopted report language offered by Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD)-as part of its Fiscal Year 2019 (FY19) foreign aid bill-specifically calling for U.S. support for “humanitarian and health programs,” including for “regional rehabilitation centers to care for infants, children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities.”
Now, as the Senate and House work out the final text of the FY19 foreign aid bill, we need to ensure that Artsakh aid for programs like the Lady Cox Rehabilitation Center and The HALO Trust’s demining efforts are included along with expanded aid to Armenia and the zero-ing out of U.S. military aid to Azerbaijan.
