SYDNEY: Tamara Kotoyan has been confirmed as the recipient of the Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU) Internship Program’s 2020 Hagop Kortian Scholarship, beginning a three-month internship at the office of the peak public affairs representative of the Armenian-Australian community ahead of receiving frontline work experience in the office of a Federal parliamentarian to help support her ambition of a potential career in politics.
Kotoyan, who was part of the 2020 ANC-AU Youth Advocates Program before applying for the Hagop Kortian Scholarship, has recently graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Government, International Relations and Commercial Law.
The ANC-AU Internship Program’s Hagop Kortian Scholarship will also cover her costs during her placement with a Federal parliamentarian, including transport, travel, accommodation and associated expenses.
“It is an incredible honour to be given the opportunity to join the efforts of the Armenian National Committee of Australia, who’s role now more than ever has become central in the continued pursuit for justice,” Kotoyan said. “I am extremely excited to join the team and to learn firsthand about their work, which I hold in high regard.”
Kotoyan added: “I would like to express my immense gratitude to the Kortian Family and the Armenian National Committee of Australia for the honour of receiving the Hagop Kortian Scholarship.”
ANC-AU Executive Director Haig Kayserian congratulated Kotoyan and thanked the Kortian family.
“We thank the Kortian family for their steadfast commitment to honouring the memory of their late father, grandfather, and husband Hagop, who was one of the founding forces of Hai Tad in Australia,” Kayserian said. “This support is enabling the entry of more Armenian-Australians into the world of politics.”

at least one letter of recommendation from an individual, not related to you, with knowledge of your abilities and qualifications.
The ANC-AU Internship Program’s Hagop Kortian Scholarship was established in 2018 and is a long-term commitment from the family, and in memory, of one of the founding forces of Hai Tad in Australia and founding member of ANC-AU.
The annual Scholarship totalling $10,000 is funded by the proceeds of the Hagop and Makrouhy Kortian Endowment Fund established in their honour by their sons and their families. Part of the Hagop Kortian Scholarship funded the 2018, 2019 and 2020 ANC-AU Youth Advocates Program in Canberra.
