Ottawa — On Friday, April 28, 2017, the Armenian National Committee of Canada (ANCC) completed its “Turkey: Thirty Days of Shame” campaign aimed at informing Canadians about Turkey’s horrific violations of human rights committed by the Erdogan regime.
The campaign focused on Turkey’s blatant disregard for freedom of expression; its well-funded propaganda machine, denial of the Armenian Genocide and hyperactive misinformation campaigns; the Erdogan regime’s rhetoric to incite hatred against other ethnic groups; the Turkish government’s consistent belligerence and warmongering; the ruling regime’s brutal suppression of political freedoms; and, the rampant corruption of President Erdogan, his family, and his ruling party.
“In preparing for this campaign, the ANCC aimed to inform Canadians about the continuous injustice that has been perpetuating in Turkey, since President Erdogan came to power in 2006. Such campaigns should act as a reminder to the International community to seriously start reconsidering its policies and alliance with Turkey.” remarked Mr. Shahen Mirakian, president of the ANCC, “What was the most shocking was the sheer enormity of the number of articles, reports, and videos that document Turkey’s flagrant abuses of human rights only in 2017.” said Mirakian.
“Day-by-Day Turkey continues to demonstrate its incompetence and ignorance towards the norms of International law, paying minimal regard to the concerns of the outside world.” Concluded Mirakian.
The campaign ran for the entire month of April, with daily weekday postings that followed particular themes. The campaign featured articles, reports, and videos from third-party sources such as The Foreign Policy Journal, The New York Times, The Turkish Minute, Human Rights Watch, The Huffington Post, Wall Street journal, and others. Le CNAC achève sa campagne « Turquie : les trente jours de la honte » révélant les violations des droits de l’homme en Turquie
Ottawa — Le vendredi 28 avril 2017, le Comité national arménien du Canada (CNAC) a achevé sa campagne « Turquie : les trente jours de la honte » visant à informer les Canadiens des violations flagrantes de la Turquie en matière de droits de l’homme que commet le régime d’Erdogan.
La campagne était axée sur le mépris flagrant de la Turquie pour la liberté d’expression, sa machine de propagande bien financée, le déni du génocide arménien et les campagnes hyperactives de désinformation, la rhétorique du régime Erdogan pour inciter à la haine contre d’autres groupes ethniques, la belligérance et le bellicisme constants du gouvernement turc, la répression brutale de la part du régime des libertés politiques ainsi que la corruption endémique du Président Erdogan, sa famille et son parti au pouvoir.
« Lors de la préparation de cette campagne, le CNAC visait à informer les Canadiens de l’injustice continue perpétrée en Turquie depuis l’arrivée au pouvoir du Président Erdogan en 2006. De telles campagnes devraient servir de rappel à la communauté internationale afin que celle-ci se mette à repenser sérieusement ses politiques et ses alliances avec la Turquie », a noté M. Shahen Mirakian, président du CNAC. « L’aspect le plus scandaleux était les innombrables articles, rapports et vidéos faisant état des grossières violations des droits de l’homme en Turquie rien qu’en 2017 », a affirmé Mirakian.
